MEEDZO oral drops, 60 mg/ml. (INN Cyanamide)

15 ml brown glass drop-tainers. 4 drop-tainers/pack.

It is a clear, colorless solution with a faint smell of acetic acid.

It is used to treat patients with chronic alcoholism and relapse prevention.

The action MEEDZO is based on the blockade of acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, which is involved in the metabolism of ethyl alcohol. This leads to an increase in the metabolite concentration of ethyl alcohol – acetaldehyde, which causes negative sensations (flushing, nausea, tachycardia, shortness of breath, etc.), which make alcohol use unpleasant after taking the drug. This leads to a conditioned reflex aversion to the taste and smell of alcoholic beverages.

The sensitizing effect of MEEDZO on alcohol appears earlier (after about 45-60 minutes) and lasts shorter (about 12 hours) than the action of disulfiram.

Treatment is prescribed after careful examination of the patient and warning about the consequences and complications.

MEEDZO is administered orally at 12-25 drops (36-75 mg of cyanamide) 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours according to an individual scheme.

Treatment with MEEDZO can begin only after 12 hours since the last intake of alcohol.

At the same time taking the drug with alcohol, the following symptoms appear: severe hyperemia of the skin, “pulsation” in the head and neck, nausea, tachycardia, difficult breathing, weakness, blurred vision, profuse sweating, chest pain. In the most severe cases – vomiting, lowering blood pressure, respiratory depression, collaptoid state. The nature and severity of symptoms depend on the amount of alcohol taken and the drug. In severe cases, it is necessary to conduct symptomatic therapy aimed at maintaining the functions of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, intravenous infusion of antihistamines.
